Floating the idea of primary challenge for Ocasio-Cortez

Image
One could only hope but then again it would be so funny to watch this dingle berry try to articulate her positions with facts and not just intentions... Rep.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  (D-N.Y.) has infuriated colleagues by aligning with a progressive outside group that’s threatening to primary entrenched Democrats. Now some of those lawmakers are turning the tables on her and are discussing recruiting a primary challenger to run against the social media sensation. At least one House Democrat has been privately urging members of the New York delegation to recruit a local politician from the Bronx or Queens to challenge Ocasio-Cortez. “What I have recommended to the New York delegation is that you find her a primary opponent and make her a one-term congressperson,” the Democratic lawmaker, who requested anonymity, told The Hill. “You’ve got numerous council people and state legislators who’ve been waiting 20 years for that seat. I’m sure they can find numerous people w...

AOC Encouraged Physical Violence Against Me

Image
“I’m not surprised at anything Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez But  again, I’m also  impressed the way the left  does the mental gymnastics to justify it,” Lahren told Fox News Wednesday. “Listen,  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, on all daily basis, says that Trump supporters and President Trump himself incite violence and then she goes and applauds and encourages a tweet by a rapper who threatens physical violence against so, again, this is a double standard at play and not just rappers, i t’s not trust trolls on  Twitter.  These are elected  representatives who are  endorsing and saying the  same thing. ” Read More...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Movie: D.C.'s Bomb-Throwing New Star Seizes the Sundance Spotlight

Image
I thought she wasn't a bomb thrower.... The audience is out of their seats, not a rare occurrence on late-night television, where floor producers vigorously pantomime the standing ovation.  But this crowd needs no prompting.  “Oh my gosh,” says Ocasio-Cortez, sitting, then standing back up. “Do I stand up? Sit down?” As the applause dissipates, Colbert notes: “It must be nice for you to be back in a city that understands you.” She’s been on  The Late Show  before, on June 29, three days after her  stunning Democratic primary upset,  which, because of her deep blue district encompassing parts of the Bronx and Queens, all but guaranteed her election to the House. She was the fourth guest of the night. And at that time, Colbert noted sheepishly: “I want to confess that I did not know your name on Monday.” This time, she arrives with an entourage large enough to fill the tiny backstage green room. And is known by just her initials — AOC. Read More... ...

Vote Against Bill to Reopen Government Because It Funded ICE

Ocasio-Cortez stuck to her belief that ICE, an agency known for  targeting undocumented immigrants with no criminal record for deportation,  endangering  their lives, and  assaulting  people in custody, shouldn’t receive another federal dollar. After campaigning to abolish ICE, the congresswoman’s actions have been closely scrutinized. Earlier this month, writer Elizabeth King  criticized Ocasio-Cortez  for voting to  fund and reopen the Department of Homeland Security  through Feb. 8, which House Democrats argued would give them more time to debate solutions to President Donald Trump’s demand for a $5.7 billion border wall. ICE falls under DHS, so the move irked some supporters who questioned why she would vote to fund that parent agency. Read More...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn't a bomb-thrower

Image
A lexandria O casio- C ortez isn't a bomb-thrower , she's a rising star who is picking her battles and who looks more and more like the future of their party. A number of Democratic lawmakers appear to be ganging up on Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, accusing her of undermining unity in her own party. But underneath their lectures about being a team player lies a deeper concern: that she might have the power to remold the party in her own image. In a much-talked-about Politico article published on Friday, close to a dozen Democratic members of Congress and staffers criticized the Bronx-born freshman for her brash political style. It was a remarkable report—Ocasio-Cortez has barely been in Congress two weeks, and several of her colleagues were willing to express blunt rebukes of her, many of them on the record. “She needs to decide: Does she want to be an effective legislator or just continue being a Twitter star?” said one Democratic lawmaker. ...

Nearly 3/4 of Democratic-leaning voters would consider AOC for president

Image
Now I know the Democrats are truly unhinged...  Good grief.   She’s not running. She isn’t even eligible. But 74% of Democrats and those who lean to the Democratic Party say they would at least consider voting for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez if she were old enough to become president, including 17% who say they would “definitely” vote for her.  Read More...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Memes

These are not funny in any way, shape or form.

Hannity Tries To Give New Nickname To Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,

This stuff is to good to be true. 😆 Hannity and his executive producer Lynda McLaughlin brainstormed new monikers for the freshman lawmaker on the latest episode of “The Sean Hannity Show” on Premiere Radio Networks. McLaughlin initiated the game after suggesting she wanted to boycott calling Ocasio-Cortez by the acronym AOC because she didn’t “know if I want her in acronym space yet.” “I don’t think she deserves it,” she added. “I’m going to call her ‘Ocasio’, or maybe ‘O-scare-io,’ or ‘O-crazy-o.’” Hannity later lobbed out a few more ideas — including “O-socially” and “O-socialist-o.” Read More...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez botches another basic question about her platform

P rogressives would do well not to pin their hopes and dreams on congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and not just because she’s the kind of person to  mistake obvious political satire  for a targeted smear job. The rising Democratic star has shown she is ignorant on a great many issues, including her own campaign platform, which obviously is not a good look for a would-be standard bearer. Consider, for example, how she responded this week when she was asked on "The Daily Show" to explain how she intends to pay for her Democratic Socialism-friendly policies, including her Medicare for All agenda. Craving Tacos then he met Sandy Ocasio-Cortez

Image
The qualifications run deep with this one... Scott Starrett was craving tacos. The 32-year-old had recently moved to New York City from Austin, Texas. So when a tiny taqueria called Flats Fix opened up around the corner from his Manhattan office, he soon became a regular with his graphic design-firm colleagues. Because it was 2016, lunch conversation would frequently turn to the presidential race. One friendly bartender would often join in. Her name was Sandy. "Everyone just loved Sandy," Starrett said. "She had an infectious kindness, an infectious presence." Read More,,,

AOC and World War 2

The people that died fighting real Nazis in North Africa, on the beaches of France then across Europe would probably disagree.  Good one Sandy.... on top of that. She’s not even a scientist. How can she speak about global warming If you’re not a scientist?  We have all been told that the “great unwashed” don’t have any right to speak about climate science unless you have been “educated”. In other words you have to be a scientist.  Isn’t that the standard?  You should figure out how to pay for your apartment on a $175,000 year salary.  Who is the real fascist?  I personally think it’s someone who wants to take 70% of everything you earn (even if it is for earners that make over 10 million).  Like, you know. Like, it almost sounds like slavery.  I don’t mean to offend any former slaves. Oh wait, that was 150 years ago... "What we had was an existential threat in the context of a war. We had a direct existential threat with another nation, this ...

Ocasio-Cortez claimed the “upper-middle class doesn’t exist anymore.”

speaking with former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett on the liberal podcast “Pod Save America,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed the “upper-middle class doesn’t exist anymore.” Ocasio-Cortez was discussing the political ideology of the country’s different socioeconomic classes when she made the claim: I think that politically, this upper-middle class is probably more moderate, but that upper-middle class doesn’t exist anymore in America, and thanks to the continued deregulation of Wall Street, thanks to the continued gutting of working- and middle-class people, we need stronger champions. However, both the   Urban Institute , and the   American Enterprise Institute  have presented evidence showing the upper-middle class is actually growing Read More,,,

Ocasio-Cortez also referred to the situation in Palestine as an “occupation” by Israel

Image
Ocasio-Cortez also refers to the situation in Palestine as an “occupation”  When to clarify her position after pointing out the term “occupation” was controversial, Ocasio-Cortez, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from Boston University, struggled to explain her comment. “I am not the expert on geopolitics on this issue,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “You know, for me, I’m a firm believer in finding a two-state solution on this issue.”

Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs

Image
“Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs,” said Ocasio-Cortez in an interview on PBS’ “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover” in July when pressed on why the unemployment rate was low in a capitalist system. “Unemployment is low because people are working 60, 70, 80 hours a week and can barely feed their kids.” Ocasio-Cortez continued to argue the days of capitalism are numbered: And so I do think that right now we have this no-holds-barred, Wild West hyper-capitalism. What that means is profit at any cost. Capitalism has not always existed in the world, and it will not always exist in the world. When this country started, we were not a capitalist [nation], we did not operate on a capitalist economy.

"Name a country where that’s worked — ever." Michael Dell

Image
When billionaire chief executive  Davos  panel about tech and global inequality burst into laughter before he could answer. was asked on Wednesday if he’d support a proposal put forth by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to tax millionaires at a 70 percent tax rate on income over $10 million, the audience for a Dell, founder and head of Dell Technologies, first responded by saying he’s more comfortable allocating significant resources through his private foundation than in handing over that money to the government. But then he answered more directly. "No, I am not supportive of that, and I don’t think it would help the growth of the U.S. economy,” he said in response to questions from The Washington Post. When Dell was asked to explain why he thinks that, he said, “Name a country where that’s worked — ever.” Read More...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Movie

As AOC confounds both the right and the left, the self-described socialist and tweet-shaming agitator takes center stage in the documentary 'Knock Down the House' and invites The Hollywood Reporter to catch a few episodes in the life of the one Democrat Trump hasn't dared attack: "Maybe he thinks that he's met his match."
